Whether a foreign passport can be self-booked online here is genuinely unclear, and foreigners have at times reported extra checks at sensitive scientific sites, so the realistic path is to have your hotel or a local agency book it with your passport details and to confirm foreigner entry is permitted before you travel out to Pingtang. The hard rule applies to everyone: before entering the 5-kilometre radio-quiet core you must check your mobile phone, camera, smartwatch, key fobs and anything else that emits radio into a locker at the security gate — you walk up to the viewing platform with nothing electronic on you, so do not plan on taking your own photos of the dish.
